Contemporary interior design in the Cotswolds

Make the very best of your home, and create a space that is welcoming, creative and unique to you.

Whether you have a whole house to deal with, or simply need a little help in tying a room together, I will inspire and work with you to integrate your own ideas and treasured possessions into schemes that are not only beautiful, but also work wonderfully for your family and the way you live.

I believe that the best homes are about far more than just matching colours; they tell a story. For that reason, I will encourage you to include favourite pieces you’ve collected over time, and that are unique to you, as well as important family heirlooms. Clever design is often not about starting again; it’s about working sympathetically with what you have and love, adapting and reinventing it to suit your tastes and lifestyle.

I pride myself on my relaxed and approachable service. Whichever level of assistance you require, our journey together will start with a chat in your home about where you feel you need help.

You may have been thinking about your dream home for many years, but never known how to achieve the look you have in mind. Why not take that first step and make it happen? Doing so may be more affordable than you think. For many years, people saw ‘interior design’ as something unattainable, but this should not be the case. I do not charge huge sums of money for fancy 3-D mock-ups or complex drawings you don’t need; I simply offer sound and friendly advice to help you create the home you’ve always wanted. A chat on the phone to find out more will cost you absolutely nothing – I’d love to hear from you. Based in Shipton-under-Wychwood I am happy to come to you within West Oxfordshire and the surrounding area.

"The key to a wonderful and inspiring home is simply ‘thought’ and making meaningful choices."

My Services

Style consultation

Need a little help to create the home you’ve always wanted? Maybe you are stumped when it comes to colour, or don’t know where to start with an awkward space. Perhaps you have some ideas, but aren’t sure if they are going to work. Sometimes all you need is a bit of advice to give you the confidence to move forward. Consultations are a great way to give you ideas and check new choices.

With my professional and friendly support, we will work out the steps you need to take to get you to where you want to be. This is a great option if you enjoy doing the shopping and decorating yourself, but need a helping hand with your direction. This option includes a home visit and, if you’d like it, a follow-up mood board and documentation, outlining a selection of ideas for furniture, colours, fabrics, wallpapers and accessories. Suitable for a single room project.

£70 for a one-hour consultation at home (including travel, within a 15-mile radius of Shipton-under-Wychwood).
£200 for a one-hour consultation, plus ideas for your project on a mood board, with supporting documentation, as required.

Full design service

Leave it all to me. Talk to me about how you’d like your space to look and I’ll turn it into a reality. This will involve at least two home visits to talk about ideas, measure, and assess the light and space. It includes sourcing furniture, choosing colours, decor and accessories, as well as any other services required to complete your room, such as getting pictures framed and favourite furniture restored or reupholstered. Ideas will be presented to you in the form of mood boards, shopping lists, floor plans and lighting plans, if appropriate, and all plans will be agreed at each stage before moving forward. I will look after your project through to completion, including managing any trades required, for a time and budget that we agree together.

Price on quotation after an initial consultation that is charged at £70 for an hour.

Smaller projects

You may not have an entire project or room you need help with. Perhaps you simply need assistance in finding that perfect piece of artwork to finish off the room you have already decorated, or guidance in buying accessories to bring your room together, for example. I’m happy to help with the little bits and pieces too. Please give me a bell, and I’ll be happy to discuss.

Bespoke upholstery

I am able to offer a bespoke upholstery design and manufacturing service. We can work together to create furniture that is unique to you, whether that's a sofa, armchair, headboard or footstool. You can choose any fabric, shape or size to fit your space and in a style that's unique to you. In our initial consultation at your home we'll discuss your requirements and look at fabric books together to inspire you. Or perhaps you have a favourite piece of furniture that needs a new lease of life: my specialist upholsterer can bring it up to date with new fabric. Call me to set up a free consultation.

Painting and decorating

Would you prefer a female painting and decorating service? Someone to bounce ideas off and to carry out the work, leaving you feeling comfortable and relaxed in your home? As well as my design services, I also offer a decorating service, where no job is too small. Get in touch and I’d be happy to pop over and quote. Cups of tea will be most welcome.

Home staging

Is your property for sale or rent, but not receiving any offers? Often a few simple tweaks can make the biggest difference to how a house is perceived. Rather than dropping your price, allow me to advise you on how to make your property more appealing, highlighting the best features and detracting from the rest. I can show you how to have the biggest impact with your budget, ranging from simple high-impact decoration to rearranging furniture and buying quick-fix accessories.

£70 for a one-hour consultation (including travel, within a 15-mile radius of Shipton-under-Wychwood). Further services are priced on quotation.

About Me

For as long as I remember, I’ve had an interest in making the best of the spaces that surround me. As soon as I was old enough to handle a paintbrush, I was decorating rooms, with much thanks to my very accommodating mother, who allowed me to do this in our home. At university I was known for my ‘grown up’ looking room in the halls of residence. It didn’t matter where I was living or how small it was, there were always ways to make it a pleasure to live in. It was clear from the start, that decoration and design were an integral part of me.

I graduated from the National Design Academy, Nottingham University, with a Diploma in Interior Design, and then went on to work for a well-known Burford interior designer, where I worked closely with clients to bring together schemes for their homes, getting to know them in depth, to fully understand their lifestyles, wishes and desires, before providing solutions for their needs. Here, I also ghost-wrote interiors articles for two different magazines, as well as a “House Doctor” column. After some years there, I made the decision to move forward with a brand new service and approach, unique to me, that will help to make designing your home a pleasurable and relaxing experience.

I love meeting people and creating excitement and enthusiasm for my clients. Why not pick up the phone and chat to me about what I can do to help you. I’m only a phone call or email away…
